In addressing its legal obligations, Ardfinnan National School provided GDPR Training to their staff using The Ark Academy™.
The Ark Academy™ is our eLearning platform designed to engage and educate school staff on essential topics such as GDPR, Health & Safety and Cyber Security.
95% of data breaches involve human error – as a result, schools could be liable for fines and sanctions under the General Data Protection Regulations 2016.
Providing GDPR training for staff would address this issue and reduce the risk of data breaches due to human error.
Focusing on its relevance to the education sector and the importance of protecting student data, The Ark Academy™ was chosen to deliver this training to staff.
Staff were enrolled on The Ark Academy™ and registration emails were automatically sent to each member of staff. Emails contained their username, password and link to their enrolled course. Staff had access to their course immediately.
Staff were allotted 1 Croke Park Hour to complete the training. Staff completed the assigned course online through the laptop, phone or tablet. The course is made up of pre recorded video modules, engaging course content, infographics and retention tools. Most staff opted to do the training at home in the evening.
On completion of a course, staff were issued with a certificate of completion by email. In addition, the Deputy Principal also received a copy by email for the personnel file. This was 100% automated through The Ark Academy™ – meaning no spreadsheets or administration.
Over a number of weeks, the “Training Tracker” kept track of each participant’s progression. In addition, The Ark Academy™ generated “reminder emails” for staff to log back in and complete courses. This resulted in close to zero administration for the Principal.
In just a couple of weeks, staff have completed the training and certificates were issued. From start to finish, management and staff were fully supported by the Ark team.
Courses have been specifically designed to train school staff. This results in higher course engagement.
Most school staff opt to do the training at home in the evening.
Feedback from staff suggests that the learning experience is simple, intuitive, and user-friendly.
The Training Tracker records staff progression. Reminder emails are sent to staff should they forget to finish a course.
Certificates of completion are automatically emailed to the Principal for the personnel file.
